Syed Iqbal is a senior visual artist from Toronto. Born in Bangladesh he lived and worked in Dhaka, Bangladesh prior to moving to Montreal in 1994 where he lived until 2002. During this period he held several exhibitions including 5 Solo Shows in Dhaka and 2 in Montreal. After moving to Toronto in 2002 he continued to work on his surrealistic themes and participated in the prestigious IMAGO Canadian National Art Competition, where he was selected as a finalist from among 800 participants – that was a definite testimony and recognition of his depth and talent as an artist. In 2003, he exhibited his works organized under the auspices of the South Asian Studies Program of the University of Toronto. He also held 10 solo exhibitions in Toronto between 2002 and 2011. His 11th Show in 2009 at the Gallery Hittite at Toronto’s prestigious Yorkville Art District, gave him the privilege of being one of the first Bangladeshi artists to exhibit there. While his 12th and 17th Solo Exhibitions at the Toronto’s Cedar Ridge Gallery in the Spring of 2009 and 2015 were very successful and were featured in the Daily “Toronto Star’, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Global Television, Canada and on the Omni Television.
In last three years Syed Iqbal has completed some new projects under new Series titled: “Urban Trap” “Blue Face With Midnight Sun”, “For Your Eyes Only” and “Eve & Snake”. He also has created number of pieces under his previous Series “Tears of Nature”, “Mindscape”, “Gautama” and “Lord Krishna” that he would like to showcase in the next 18th Solo Painting Exhibition “ Broken Mind” 26 October to 7 Novamber 2019,Opening Ceremony Sunday 27 Octobe 1 pm to 4pm. in Cedar Ridge Gallery 225 Confederation Drive. Syed Iqbal is an active member of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) – North America’s oldest society of artists since 1872.
He is also a member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA).
Syed Iqbal is an adviser to South Asian Gallery of Arts( SAGA) in Oakville in Canada.
Other remarkable achievements in Canada include- Sale of his painting at the highrst price at an auction for fund raising for the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP) IN Toronto,2011.
Cpllection of one of his painting by the Canadia Central Government Minister and MP Rob Oliphent from his 12th solo show ‘No Pain No Gain’ for display at the Ottawa Parliament Building.

Iqbal is also a writer. He has written 35 publication.Novels and Shor story books in Bengali language.
